Private Terrace · Gràcia, Barcelona · 2023

This private terrace in the heart of Barcelona brings together a rich diversity of trees, conifers, shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses to create a lush, layered landscape within an urban setting.

The defining feature of the project is a series of large, curved planters, designed to break away from the rectangular geometry and linearity of the existing space. Their flowing contours introduce a softer, more natural rhythm, allowing the planting to unfold freely and creating a sense of movement across the terrace.

The generous scale of the planters was a key design decision, providing the depth and volume needed for the plants to establish and develop over time.

Colour also plays a central role in the composition. The carefully selected planter finishes create a striking contrast with the varied textures, tones and forms of the vegetation, bringing a distinctive visual identity to the terrace.

The result is a contemporary urban garden where sculptural forms and abundant planting come together in a balanced, natural composition.
